Skipjack, e-mail , Hobby & Dean, Panama City, FL

Here is the note which accompanied this photo:

"Named the Wild Hare, built June '99. The project took 4 months of weekends.
(40-12 packs of Red Dog)"

Sounds like a fun job! The Skipjack turned out nicely, but it looks like they used a different rig design.

Kayak, Bill Welsh, Hampstead, NC

Mr. Welsh sent us this picture of the Kayak he just finished. He states that it took about 40 hours and a bit over $200. Very nice job! So far, he's taken the Kayak on the North East Cape Fear River and the Inter Coastal Waterway. We look forward to seeing more from Mr. Welsh!

Kayak, Mark Peterson, Othello, WA

Mr. Peterson built this Kayak from our plans back in 1980. He's thinking about doing a Skipjack next.

Modified Wing-Dinghy, Stephan James, Mt. Home, ID
Mr. James has also posted a web site about his Wing-Dinghy project Here!

Vector, Tom Suppa, Lincoln, NE

A Vector! We're very glad to see that Mr. Suppa has built a Vector (on the right above); it's one of our favorite projects. In the shot above, Mr. Suppa is joined by Mr. Konrad Broer who built his landsailer as well. Mr. Broer is also working on a Vacationer. Mr. Broer had bet Mr. Suppa that he couldn't build his Vector in a month. Mr. Suppa was sailing in just over a week! There are more pictures of Mr. Suppa's Vector on Mr. Broer's web site, along with shots of his Vacationer project: Click Here to take a look!

Lincoln looks like a fun town to go sailing in! Thanks!

Mini-Cup, Bill Jones, Mechanicsville, VA

Mr. Jones has buillt a very nice looking Mini-Cup. We always liked the Mini-Cup... It's a fun and fast little boat. Bill has posted a web site with lots more pictures: Click Here to see it!

Skipjack (under construction), Michel Girard , Ste-Adele, Quebec

Mr. Girard has been kind enough to send us pictures of his Skipjack-in-progress. Michel must be the fellow in the blue plaid shirt, because I'm fairly sure the man in the red shirt is Vince Thorburn, who is helping out with the project. Click Here to see Vince's boat.

Below is the note accompanying this shot.

"Last fall I ordered the plans for the SKIPJACK. This after getting the
bug from a couple of friends of mine who built the WEEKENDER ( The
Second Shawbridge Sea Scouts group and Vincent Thorburn who , by the
way, is reported to be the oldest builder of a Weekender).
I confiscated Vinny's garage around mid January (so what if his car has
to sleep outside at -30 Cel) and we proceeded to build the SKIPJACK.
Things are moving along at a steady pace (not as fast as I would like,
but it happens. I've sent a couple of pictures of the work in progress
(one picture as creative as we could possibly be and the other with
vinny and myself). I will send pictures of the SKIPJACK when she is
finished. The official launching should be sometime in June, if all goes
well.

Thanks Mike Girard, Ste-Adele(north of Montreal), Quebec"

Triad, Andre Emmenegger, Tarpon Springs, FL

Mr. Emmenegger has built a Triad, with a few modifications, and we are grateful to present it here for you. It's a very nice job, and we have a few pictures posted on a separate page. Please Click Here to see more of this nice boat.

Skipjack (under construction), Brad Clarke , Edmonton, Alb.

Mr. Clarke is in the process of building a Skipjack. We look forward to seeing the final result! Brad has posted a web site with pictures of the construction of his Skipjack, and other boats he's built. Click Here to see Mr. Clarke's web site.

Wing-Dinghy, Steve DeVries, Shawnee, KS.

Mr. Steve DeVries sent us these pictures of his Wing-Dinghy named "Daisy". He's done a great job with the boat and enjoys sailing it. We particularly like the daisy logo on the sail and the graphics on the hull. Nice Job!

Wing-Dinghy, Dan Ortiz, Converse, TX

Mr. Ortiz sent us this picture of his recently-completed Wing-Dinghy. He's done a very nice job, and has added a few personal touches: red oak plywood for the deck and an aluminum rudder box. He's having fun sailing around the San Antonio area, but may be working on a Weekender soon, so that may keep him busy for awhile! We look forward to more project shots of Mr. Ortiz' growing fleet.

Skipjack, Tom Raidna and sons!

Tom is buiding a Skipjack and has a very nice site devoted to boatbuilding: http://members.aol.com/buildboats He is using a modified Weekender gaff rig (slightly smaller for this project) for his Skipjack. Below are some of the latest shots of progress on his boat.

Weekender, John Weigandt

Mini-Cup, John Weigandt

Mr. Weigandt has a web site with more pictures.

Bass Boat, E.H. Jatin, Surinam!

This was a surprise: a very nicely done Bass Boat being used as a river ambulence by a clinic in Surinam (north part of South America). Although we no longer sell the Bass Boat plans, we thought people might get a kick out of this.

Wing-Dinghy, Don Willets

Don sent us a few shots of his nice looking Wing-Dinghy. To quote Mr. Willets: "I'm enclosing a few pictures of the "Winged Dingy" which I recently built and it sails beautifully. Actually, it's quite fast and tacks well... a really fun little boat in a good breeze!"
We think he did a great job building his boat and we thank him again for the pictures.

Bass Boat, Gerard Petrella

"...a scan of my recently completed Bass boat. I spent about two months working on it during the
summer. I worked on it at my leisure that s why it took me two months, I could have completed it much faster if I would have concentrated on it. As you can see in the scan I really loaded it with options, amateur radio, marine ship to shore, airiated live wells, deluxe swivel seats, teleflex steering, 15 horse electric start Johnson out board, and a Johnson trolling motor. The boat handles well but I would like to use a bigger motor, but the flat bottom makes for a bumpy ride at fast speeds. I finished the boat with oil base paint and did not elect to fiberglass the hull. It has not taken on any water, I also used non snag marine carpeting in the cockpit and on the casting decks. As I said before, I am very pleased with the boat. I have sent for your Kayak plans and I am looking forward to building that in the near future. I also have your mini cat plans but just never got a round to building one. I am to busy playing with my other toy as my wife calls it. I will send you a scan of it also, I built it back in 1987 and it flys great."

Skipjack, Hector Muñoz, Guadalajara Mex.

Pocket Cruiser and Triad, J.F. Davis, Mt.Gravatt, Australia
Mr. Davis built the Pocket Cruiser in 32 days and the Triad in 11!
Skipjack, Lester Haley, Chula Vista, CA.
Sportfoil, Bob Ross, Plymouth, MA.
While we no longer sell the Sportfoil plans, this was such a nicely done example we thought we should share it.

Skipjack built by a college student in her apartment.
Kayak, No Name
3-In-1, Steve Luckman, Portland, OR
Triad, Gary Olinehak

SKIPJACK

Hi Stevenson--After that "Cat" and the Deck Boat, we just had to try this one (Skipjack) also,
E.M., Tempe, Arizona
Gentlemen: I recently purchased from you plans to build the Skipjack Sailboat. You have done a great job of presenting it for the novice to understand. Thank you so much.
C.A., Western Springs, Illinois
I enjoy the boat. It is a fine sailer. The boat is great and at Lake Isabella, we raised quite a stir and admiration among skiers with their $2000 and $6000 power boats.
