Skipjack, Ed Jones , Lawrenceville, GA

The latest from Mr. Jones showing progress on his Skipjack. It looks really great. Here you can see his gaff rig, which is a departure from the lateen in the plans. The gaff rig looks like fun, and really fits the boat well. We look forward to hearing how she sails!

Here's a link to Mr. Jones' web site: http://www.geocities.com/edskipjack/index.html.

Thanks Ed!

Mini-Cup, Andrew Butchart, Neustadt, ONT

Mr. Butchart sent us these Mini-Cup pics. Mr. Butchart is also the person who has digitised the Mini-Cup plans which we have HERE. Mr. Butchart's efforts have not gone unappreciated, as several thousand people have downloaded the Mini-Cup plans. We've heard of boats built this summer (2001) in Spain, France, and all over the US. I think people are really having fun with the Mini-Cup again, which is great. It always was one of our personal favorites!

Mr. Butchart has a nice set-up with a launching dolly and a good roof rack for his Jeep. He also has a web page for his Mini-Cup here.

Thanks again Andrew!

Modified Mini-Cat, Name and Address lost...

A builder sent us this shot of his very modified Mini-Cat. It looks like a good fishing platform. We did some experiments with electric multihulls for fishing some years ago and found that the fish were very friendly for some reason. Perhaps the quiet drive and the shapes of the hulls? Who knows; they certainly catch fish well!

Skipjack, Ed Jones , Lawrenceville, GA

More shots from Mr. Jones showing progress on his Skipjack. It's coming along well! See below for earlier pics...

Triad, Chris Nelms,

Mr. Nelms has submitted these photos of his Triad-in-progress. It looks like it's going to be a good looking job. Chris has also posted a web site with pics of his boat here: http://photos.yahoo.com/paula_nelms

Wing-Dinghy, Kevin Green, Kemp, TX

Mr. Kevin Greeen made this terrific Wing-Dinghy out of cardboard for a race in Texas! He's a master with paper boats; check out the really amazing paper models of the Weekender, Vacationer, and Pocket Cruiser he did. And...You can download your own version free from the BYYB site: Click Here!

Skipjack, Mike Shahan , TX

Mr. Shahan has finished his Skipjack, and it looks great! He has also posted a website about his boat: Click Here to take a look!

Skipjack, Ed Jones , Lawrenceville, GA

Mr. Jones is starting on his Skipjack. We look forward to more shots, as it looks like he'll be doing a nice job. He's already started personalising his Skipjack, as the rounded stem detail is an addition of his own!

Modified Triad, John Thorpe,

Mr. Thorpe sent us these shots of his very nice triad. He made a few changes: Most notably, the rig is now a lug-sail rather than lateen in the plans. He's also added a few cockpit coamings to cut water entry down a bit. It looks like John cut the sides down a little too. A nice looking sailboat!

Skipjack, Roger Otis , Grimes, IA

Mr. Otis built this Skipjack in the early 1980's from the book "Sailboats You Can Build" (which had the Skipjack and our first two projects for Family Circle magazine, a scow and a catamaran). He decided to change his rig, which looks nice! Thanks to Mr. Otis!
