Here are some links to other people's sites. Some of them are builder-oriented, others tend toward the active-sport motif, and still others are just plain interesting! Keep in mind that we may not have tested out the products and services which you may find on these links. These links are to help you find stuff we think you may find interesting.
Be sure to send us links you've found so we can spread the word; good kiddies share, so they say.
The BYYB Bulletin Board A great resource for first-time builders, as well as more experienced builders.
Weekender Boatbuilder Community A very useful and fun site for people building our projects. This site has some good clarifications of our plans and some good wood discussions for builders looking to substitute materials.
We've put together a special page with links to web sites posted by Stevenson Projects Builders. Their sites show off all of the great work they have done on their own projects, as well as the work of other builders. These sites are a great way to meet other builders and to get some idea of what to expect if you are considering building one of our projects.
These sites have lots of building information and good links as well.

West Marine We've been going to West for years. They've kept a pretty good attitude over the years, and now they've expanded to the east coast as well. They're a good mailorder chandlery if you need one. While our projects don't require specific boat parts, some marine-type things are nice to have (like life preservers, flares, Harken blocks, Sta-set lines, a nice Davis Mark 25 sextant...)
PolySail A source for WHITE tarp material for sails! PolySail sells kits for tarp sails for the Weekender! We've taken a look at the sail kit they put together: It's a great deal. A very good quality white tarp, along with everything one needs to make a set of Weekender sails. Probably where we would go for sail material.
Raka Epoxy While we ususally specify the Urea-resin glues in our plans, many builders prefer to work with epoxies. Raka is a great source: they mail-order, they're inexpensive, their epoxies are well regarded, and they know all about our boats. All good references!
Sailing with Kathleen McKoon-Hennick This is a great site! Lots and lots of links about all aspects of sailing. This site even has a Landsailing links page, and an Experimental Sailboats page with links to the AYRS. Go check it out!
Small Craft Advisor Magazine The Small Craft Advisor is a great new magazine which is published for the pocket-yacht sailor. They try to stick to under 25-footers (although there is no specific rule; most of the interest seems to be in the under 20-foot area). This magazine is very appropriate reading for builders of our Pocket Yachts! They have a lot to offer, and we suggest giving them a look!
WoodenBoat Magazine WoodenBoat is pretty much the primary magaize for wooden boat buffs of all types. They feature traditional gaff-riggers, sporty high-speed runabouts from the 1920's (or replicas thereof), and everything inbetween. A good source of info on hardware, lumber, adhesives, and finishing suppliers as well.
The Trailer Sailor Page A web site with good resources for small-boat sailors and builders. They have a monthly on-line newsletter and a chat room which gets some Weekender builders on occasion. A lot of good information.
PocketCruierGuide.com This site is a good starting point for small boat cruising. There are a lot of links to small cruising advice and equipment sites, as well as boat sites (although we think you should build one of ours!).
Southern California Small Boat Messabout Society If you live in the SoCal area, you may want to haul your Weekender to one of this group's get-togethers. They're a fun looking, irreverant bunch, as you'll see if you go to their site. When the B.Y.Y.C. gets the Weekender Builder/Skipper's (Vacationer and Pocket Cruisers too!) Regatta going, we may want to pair up with this group for some larger events!
Stillwater Boats These folks make very elegant, shapely plywood kayaks. One step beyond our Kayak project.
No Quarter Given A great group of Pirate-enthusiasts. They maintain a site and newsletter, as well as getting involved in re-enacting pirate get-togethers. Lots of good links to re-enactment groups and suppliers, as well as photos of schooners and brigs form the west coast fighting in mock battles. We went aboard on one of these and it's a lot of fun!
SchoonerMan A good source of links for tall-ship links, with links to several tall-ship races coming up soon!
HandiLinks A list of handy boating links.
The International Hydrofoil Society Page The definitive site for information regarding hydrofoils of all sizes. Very interesting, with active feedback from members and lots of good links. Worth a look.
The APA The APA helped us get started in the project plan business over twenty-five years ago back when they were still just The American Plywood Association! Now known as APA-The Engineered Wood Association, they help promote and develop "engineered wood": plywood, oriented strand board, glulam beams, and similar manufactured wood products. Take a look!
The California Redwood Association This organisation helps people get the most out of working with redwood. They have tips on finishes, project ideas and plans, and more. We have worked with the California Redwood Association in the past on pool and deck projects.
Robert Q. Riley Enterprises You may recall this company from the good old days of Popular Mechanix, et al. They have a bunch of interesting plans for projects similar to our own, but along a slightly different vein. Worth a good look.
Bob Sokol teaches you how to build a Boatmobile What to do with an old VW and a boat!
